Here at Glades Wear our thoughts are always on wild places. And one wild place, in particular, is woven through our hearts and bones: Florida's inimitable Everglades. 

As an 8th-generation Florida “Cracker”, I have a deep pride in our state’s culture and history. My early years were spent under huge live oaks in the central part of the state, surrounded by family members steeped in southern tradition. Eventually my family settled further south in Naples. My grandad, a local carpenter and photographer, first introduced me to the "Glades." I still recall those early morning drives down cracked-shell backroads where we fished tea-colored water for bass, tarpon and snook. A passion was ignited.

I've now spent the better part of 30 years exploring the deeper reaches of the Everglades National Park with other diehard anglers or, as often as not, by my lonesome. It always has something new and beautiful to teach me. This one-of-a-kind wilderness has endured change and injury, but its raw beauty and untamed spirit remain intact. It is the inspiration for the apparel and art found here in our family-owned shop.
